From Feeling Like a Failure to Becoming the ‘Gold Standard of Parenting‘

The Challenge

By the time Clemmie contacted KE, she and her husband knew what they wanted family life to look like. They wanted to raise calm, kind and respectful children and create a home where everyone treated one another in the same way.

The problem wasn't a lack of effort. Over the years, they had tried countless parenting tricks, tactics and approaches in an attempt to create change. Nothing had delivered the lasting results they were looking for, leaving Clemmie understandably sceptical that another approach would be any different.

There was another challenge they hadn't fully recognised. Although Clemmie and her husband ultimately wanted exactly the same things for their children, they were approaching parenting from completely different angles.

Without a consistent approach between them, creating the calm family dynamic they both wanted was incredibly difficult.

For Clemmie, however, asking for outside help brought with it an even deeper emotion: she felt she had failed as a mother.

Finding KE

When Katherine arrived at their home, Clemmie openly shared how she was feeling. Rather than seeing asking for help as evidence that she had failed, Katherine helped Clemmie recognise it for what it really represented: she had identified that something within family life wasn't working, actively sought a solution and was prepared to make changes to improve it.

That conversation changed the tone of the entire visit. Instead of approaching the process feeling ashamed or inadequate, Clemmie felt empowered to understand what was happening within their family and do something about it.

Getting on the Same Page

As Katherine spent time with the family, one of the most important discoveries wasn't simply about the children's behaviour. It was about the parents. Clemmie and her husband shared the same destination, but they had been taking very different routes to get there.

Katherine helped them understand their family dynamic and develop a clear, consistent approach that they could both follow. For the first time, they were genuinely on the same page.

Rather than reaching for another trick or tactic whenever something went wrong, they began parenting from a shared understanding of what their children needed and how they wanted their family to operate.

That consistency changed far more than individual behaviours. It changed the atmosphere within their home.

The Transformation

The family dynamic shifted dramatically. The calm, kindness and respect Clemmie and her husband had always wanted to create became part of everyday family life. They were no longer relying on different tactics or responding to situations from opposing perspectives. Instead, they had a shared approach and the confidence to use it consistently.

The transformation became noticeable outside the family too. Friends who had previously witnessed the normal challenges of family life began referring to Clemmie and her husband as the ‘gold standard of parenting’ because of how calm and respectful the whole family had become.

For Clemmie, the contrast with how she'd felt when Katherine first arrived couldn't have been greater. She had started the process believing that needing help meant she had failed as a mother. She finished it feeling empowered, united with her husband and equipped with an entirely different understanding of parenting.

The family hadn't simply found another strategy for managing difficult moments. They had changed the dynamic within their home – and created a way of parenting that Clemmie believes has changed their family forever.
